If you, or someone yoy care for, uses the same medication regularly, you may be able to benefit from repeat dispensing from your usual Pharmacist.
The first step is to talk to the practice Medicines Co-Ordinator, Mrs Williams - and ask her is you can use repeat dispensing. She will discuss your individual case with one of the GP's.
You will be asked for permission to share information with your pharmasist about your treatment. You may be asked to sign an agreement form. You will be given a signed authorisation form (which is valid for up to one year) and some repeat dispensing forms.
STEP 2 - take your authorisation form and one of your issue forms to your pharmacy when you need your first batch of medication. The pharmacists will keep the authorisation form.
STEP3 - each time you need further medication you take a repeat dispensing form to your pharmacist.
You do not need to get all the items listed on your prescription every time. If you have enough of one medication, tell the pharmacist.
You should tell the pharmacist about any other medication you are taking including 'over the counter' medication like cough remedies or herbal medication.
If you pay for your prescriptions, you will still have to pay the prescription charge or charges every time you go to the pharmacy for more medication.
When you run out of prescription forms, come back to the surgery for another set - you may need to see either a GP or the practice nurse to check that the medication is still right for you before another set is issued.
